Speaker Bio
Patrick Abernathy is Principal Engineer, AI Enablement at ACS Technologies, where he has spent more than 15 years building software and helping other engineers grow. He leads AI enablement across the engineering organization, setting code quality and architecture standards, developing internal tooling, and preparing teams to work effectively alongside AI systems.
His product experience spans much of the ACST portfolio. He began on Headmaster and Realm before moving to the OnDemand solution, where he designed the platform overlay and the automation services running behind it. For most of the past decade his work has concentrated on the foundational layer that clients never interact with directly but depend on constantly: the corporate system integration platform, enterprise email infrastructure, automation services, and the process design that ties them together. He now serves as lead architect and engineer for the company's innovation team, Kingdom Creations.
That commitment to teaching extends well beyond the company. Patrick is an instructor for Midlands Technical College's AI-enabled developer program, where he teaches working professionals and career changers how to build real software with modern AI tooling. Within ACST he designs structured learning paths and delivers training to both technical and business audiences, and he mentors engineers, apprentices, and interns through code review, learning plans, and regular feedback. He is also a volunteer mentor with Build Carolina, coaching early-career developers across South Carolina's technology community, and speaks at conferences and delivers webinars on AI-assisted development.
